For the outdoor enthusiast, the Grand Valley is home to the Colorado National Monument, and the Grand Mesa…
The Colorado National Monument affectionately referred to as the “Mini-Grand Canyon” is a 32 square mile park full of fascinating landscapes ranging from deep canyons to soaring cliffs. Take a drive over the Colorado National Monument on the scenic Rim Rock Drive, a 23-mile road offering views of a parade of geology. Consider that the road is only 8 miles as the crow flies. It twists and turns past sandstone monoliths that are 1.7 billion years old! Stop in at the Visitors Center to find out more! The Grand Mesa is the largest flat-topped mountain in the world, with over 200 lakes, 63 miles of scenic byway, and endless opportunities for fun. Enjoy a pleasant stroll around the lake at Mesa Lakes Lodge, or a cross country ski on the Skyway trail. You can even enjoy a horseback ride through the gorgeous alpine environment. While you’re up there, be sure to stop by Powderhorn Ski Resort, and enjoy color change Sunday!
